Silica-supported P2O5 as a highly efficient, green and inexpensive catalyst for the preparation of 1-carbamatoalkyl-2-naphthols under solvent-free conditions

A highly efficient and simple protocol for the preparation of 1- carbamatoalkyl-2-naphthols under solvent-free conditions is described. One-pot multi-component condensation of 2-naphthol with arylaldehydes and alkyl carbamates in the presence of catalytic amount of silicasupported P2O5 (P2O5/SiO2) affords the title compounds in high yields and short reaction times in relativelymild reaction conditions (70 °C).
